FEATURED WORK - ‘the veiled vestal’

A trompe l'oeil painting of a crumpled photographed of a classical white marble statue of a kneeling woman holding a flame. Painted to look like the image is pinned to a dark wooden background.

Inspired by the Veiled Vestal sculpture, by Raffaelle Monti, and known for it’s appearance in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice film, this Veiled Vestal painting uses the technique of trompe l’oeil to reflect the statue’s own illusion of transparency.
